New Jersey Issues

Seminar Issues

During their program year, Lead New Jersey Fellows explore a variety of public policy issues facing New Jersey in different areas around the state. Throughout the year-long program, Fellows participate in 10 seminars examining today's challenges and tomorrow's opportunities, interacting with prominent experts and leaders throughout the state.

Seminars take place in a variety of locations across New Jersey to provide participants with direct experience of the issues and combine site visits, case studies, debates, and simulations with presentations from and conversations with a wide variety of experts throughout New Jersey. In any seminar year, Fellows may explore the State House, experience a maximum-security prison, canoe in the Pinelands, examine diversity on the streets of Newark, and visit a classroom in Camden and neighborhood clinic in New Brunswick. For many participants, it is often the first time they’ve visited a certain city or region; for those experienced in New Jersey issues, they get the opportunity to learn from leaders they may not have had the opportunity to interact with otherwise.
